Joxel Spotlight – Cheryl Wunsch

Cheryl Wunsch joined our team in September of 2019 and from the outset, she has had and continues to have a positive impact within our company and for our clients. Cheryl’s positive and compassionate attitude towards people, her multiple technical skill sets, and wealth of knowledge makes her a great addition to our team and a pleasure to work with. Now, let us find out a bit more about Cheryl.

What prompted you to go into the Information Technology Industry?

I have always loved math and solving problems.  When I took my first computer class in high school, I was hooked.

How have your previous experiences helped you in your role as a Business Intelligence Analyst at The Joxel Group?

I worked at Children’s Hospital with their Epic EMR system.  I was involved in several quality improvement projects there and saw how valuable data and analytics can be to a healthcare organization. I have also worked in similar roles in the manufacturing, legal, and education industries over the years and enjoyed learning a variety of systems and new technologies.

If you could describe yourself in three words, which three words would you use?

Determined, Curious, Empathetic

How do you unplug?

  1. Play Tennis
  2. Canoeing/Kayaking
  3. Photography

What are three things people don’t know about you?

  1. I do not like chocolate (yes, I know that is crazy).
  2. I was almost arrested in Peru.  I was taking pictures at a parade and a police officer grabbed me and started yelling at me.  He actually thought I was a spy from Ecuador, and he was going to confiscate my camera and put me in jail.  Luckily, we were able to talk him out of it.
  3. I almost drowned when I was about 3 years old.  My parents made me, and my 4 brothers take swimming lessons after that.

If there was one aspect of the Information Technology or the Healthcare field, that you could change or fix, what would that aspect be?

Making data, especially healthcare data more secure, but still easily accessible to the users that should have access.

Thank you, Cheryl, for taking time out to participate in this edition of The Joxel Spotlight. We are so happy and thankful to have you as part of our team.
